2. One-Day Papercrete Commercialization Seminar Enrollment Details  Next class: As requested

Overview:

Until now, papercrete has been used mainly by individuals to build their own homes or other small structures. But for the last seven years, Living In Paper has been focusing on creating practical ways to commercialize this exciting new material. It has conducted an extensive program of research & development, cooperated with international partners to conduct studies in foreign countries, designed and built equipment & systems, and authored a detailed Commercialization Business Plan, which shows that papercrete can be commercially viable and profitable.  This work culminated in the development of a pressed block called BetR-blok. BetR-blok has many advantages over conventional papercrete blocks and can be mass produced.

The BetR-blok press quickly produces strong, consistent blocks  with no loss of water. The BetR-blok Mega mixer produces up to nine yards of mix at a time.

The Papercrete Commercialization Seminar is hosted by Mr. Barry J. Fuller - the author of Living In Paper. Mr. Fuller is an Alternative Building Materials Specialist and has designed and built the prototype manufacturing equipment which will be shown during the Seminar. He has conducted extensive research on papercrete and built or worked on a number of papercrete structures in the U.S. and Mexico. He has also been retained as an Alternative Building Materials consultant and presenter by several large universities, corporations and other organizations.

Objective:

The objective of the Papercrete Commercialization Seminar is to introduce prototype BetR-blok mass production equipment & procedures, and discuss partnership opportunities with those who have a demonstrated interest in transforming papercrete into a widely-available commercial product.

Seminar Topics:

Seminar topics include but are not limited to:

1.)
   Manufacturing System Concept
2.)
   Prototype Press Construction and Operation
3.)
   Prototype Mixer Construction and Operation
4.)
Prototype Mix Transfer Unit Construction and Operation
5.)
Scalable System: Two Mixer/Three-Press Integration and Operation
6.)
   Mixing, Pressing and Materials Handling
7.)
The BetR-blok Business Plan Including Three-Year Financial Projections*
8.)
   Partnership Opportunities
9.)
   Lessons Learned

*The BetR-blok Business Plan must be signed out and returned at the end of the day of the seminar.

Location:

The Living In Paper research facility is located in Maricopa, Arizona. The address will be emailed to attendees upon registration. If you experience any problems with the emailed directions, call Barry on his cell - 480-560-9563.

Begin and End Times:

Seminar activities begin at 8:30am sharp.  The Seminar ends when all questions are answered. There is a lunch break, but the nearest place to eat is about three miles away. The food is very good at this location but service is slow. Bring your own morning coffee, snacks, drinks and lunch – unless you wish to drive to the restaurant and risk not getting back in time for the beginning of the afternoon session. In warm weather, dress for extended time in the sun - bring water, sun block, eye protection, wide-brimmed or hard hat, work-shoes and rubber gloves. No notes, sound recording, photos or video are allowed at the Papercrete Commercialization Seminar.

Accomodations:

You can either stay at a hotel in the Phoenix/Tempe area (allow one hour from Tempe to the Research Facility) or rent a room at the only hotel near the Research Facility - the Ak-Chin casino, which is about five miles away - 15406 N Maricopa Rd., Maricopa, AZ 85239 (480) 802-5000).  To find a hotel in Tempe, go to Google Maps at http://maps.google.com/   In the box at the top of the page, cut and paste the following phrase “hotels, Tempe, Arizona 85281” without the quotes.  Click the magnifying glass - "Search Maps". This will bring up a list of hotels in Tempe on the left side of the page and bubbles on the map showing their locations. Peruse the list or click on the bubbles for information about the hotels. There is no grass or facilities of any kind but the road is a quiet cul de sac. Absolutely no outside fires are permitted. The area is very dry and fire is extremely dangerous.

Enrollment Pre-requisites:

There are two pre-requisites for attending the Papercrete Commercialization Seminar. All attendees must:

1.) Sign and submit a Waiver of Liability before the Seminar begins.
2.) Sign and submit a Non- Disclosure/Agreement Not To Compete before the Seminar
     begins.
(Both documents may be signed and submitted on the day of the seminar. The Waiver of Liability exempts Living in Paper and its affiliates from responsibility for any kind of loss or injury associated with the Seminar. The Non-Disclosure/ Agreement Not To Compete legally enjoins unauthorized duplication, communication or use of the proprietary information disclosed in the seminar and also contains an agreement not to compete. )

In addition to the two pre-requisites above, it is strongly recommended that, before attending the Papercrete Commercialization Seminar, prospective attendees should either:

1.)
Attend a basic One-Day Workshop or
2.)
Purchase and study The Complete Papercrete Construction Series.
The reason for these recommendations is that the general subject of papercrete construction is not part of the Papercrete Commercialization Seminar, but knowledge of papercrete construction is key to understanding the subject matter of the Seminar.

Enrollment :

Enrollment in the Papercrete Commercialization Seminar is limited to ten people and is accomplished by simply paying the enrollment fee - $475.00 per person. Please enroll as soon as possible to guarantee your place.  Payment may be made by Credit Card or PayPal by clicking on the "ADD TO CART" button below.
